Events

At our school our children have a wealth of school trips, events, outdoor learning and residentials. These are a major contributor to good health and mental well being for our children. Children taking part in activities often display improvements in their resilience, self-confidence, and their ability to get on with and relate to peers, which in turn boosts their sense of belonging. Team-work builds trust, as well as skills such as collaboration and communication – all of which supports attentiveness, concentration, and performance in the classroom.

Odd Socks Day & Anti-Bullying Week!

Our school took part in Odd Socks Day to kick off Anti-Bullying Week 2025. Lots of us wore bright, colourful, mismatched socks to celebrate what makes each of us unique!
This year’s Anti-Bullying Week theme is “Power for Good,” reminding us that we all have the power to make a difference through kindness, respect, and inclusion.
To start the week, Miss Whittaker led a special worship assembly to launch Odd Socks Day and Anti-Bullying Week. During this time, we:
🎵 Enjoyed the brand-new song “Power for Good” by Andy and the Odd Socks. We listened, sang along, and even learnt some fun actions to go with the chorus! The song reminded us that each of us have the power to make a difference – through kindness, friendship, and standing up for others.
💬 Reflected on how small acts of kindness can help stop bullying and make our school a happier place. We thought about how we can use our power for good every day – by including others, speaking up if we see someone being treated unfairly, and celebrating what makes us all unique.
🧦 Celebrated our individuality with an Odd Socks Parade! We proudly showed off our mismatched socks as a reminder that being different is something to be proud of. Just like our socks, we all come in different colours, patterns, and styles – and that’s what makes our school community so special.
Together, we used our voices, our kindness, and even our socks to spread the message that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.
We made our school colourful, kind, and full of smiles as we showed that being different is something to be proud of. 🧦🌟

Remembrance Day Worship

Our school community gathered for a special Remembrance Day worship where children learned about why we remember, who we honour, and the importance of this day. We were grateful to one of our families for sharing WWI medals with us, helping bring history to life and reminding us of the bravery shown by so many. The children also watched a moving BBC animation, which encouraged thoughtful reflection on the impact of war. Our worship ended with a two-minute silence and The Last Post, observed with great respect and maturity by all. We are so proud of our pupils for the sensitivity and understanding they showed.

Spina Bifida Awareness

Our school came together to celebrate Spina Bifida Awareness, led by our amazing Birch House Captain, Edie. She shared her inspiring story during worship, helping us all learn more about the condition and introducing us to the incredible charity Shine, which supports people living with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
To continue spreading awareness, Edie — supported by her fantastic friends and classmates — organised a bake sale that was both heart-warming and delicious! Pupils and staff enjoyed a wonderful selection of homemade treats, and thanks to everyone’s generosity, an amazing £132.50 was raised for Shine. 🍰✨
This adds to the incredible £788 Edie raised by completing the Robin Hood Mini Marathon in September, bringing her total to a phenomenal £920! 🎉
Edie, we are all so proud of you — your determination, kindness, and hard work continue to inspire everyone in our school community. 💫
A huge thank you to everyone who supported and contributed. Your generosity has helped make a real difference and will support Shine in continuing their vital work for those affected by Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. 💛

National Burns Awareness Day

On National Burns Awareness Day, Tinaz and Olivia from the Burns Unit at the City Hospital visited us to lead worship and talk to the children about how to stay safe during this time of year. They shared important tips like wearing clothes underneath Halloween costumes, placing carrots at the end of sparklers to avoid burns, and using wheat bags instead of hot water bottles for warmth. We’re so grateful for their visit and the valuable advice to help keep everyone safe!

Black History Month

As part of Black History Month, our Cedar House Captains and Faith Councillor led a powerful and inspiring worship. They shared the stories of Black individuals whose lives reflect resilience, hope, and strength, reminding us of the importance of honouring and learning from these voices. We reflected on how these stories connect with Joseph’s journey in the Bible, especially the symbolism of Joseph’s stones—each one representing a part of his path and God’s purpose. This meaningful learning continued in our classrooms through a range of thoughtful and engaging activities such as the ones shown in Year 4 where they learnt about Martin Luther King Jr. and created their own “I Have a Dream” inspired posters.

WearGoldDay – Supporting Childhood Cancer Awareness

Today, our school came together to support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The children looked fantastic in gold, and the day was filled with inspiring moments.
In the morning, worship was led by Miss Whittaker, supported by Max and Finley, who shared their journey and meaningful items, including Olly the Brave and the book Olly Being Brave and Chemotherapy.
Class 6 organised a Bake Sale in the afternoon, raising an amazing £327.35! Funds will be split between CCLG (Children & Young People’s Cancer Association) and Ward E39 at QMC, where Max and Finley received their treatment.
A huge thank you to everyone who baked, sold, and supported – your generosity is making a real difference! 🎗️
